ODAI Enables Collaborative Efforts and West Campus Training on Kirtas Scanners
October 12, 2009
Following the delivery of three Kirtas robotic book scanners to West Campus in mid-September, participants from ODAI, the Peabody Museum of Natural History, Yale Center for British Art, Harvey Cushing/John Hay Whitney Medical Library, and Yale University Library Preservation Department were involved in three intensive days of training. Now, the group is involved in collective practice sessions through the end of October. Moving forward “Team Kirtas” will work on individual projects for each of their respective units, but will do so in a collaborative manner by sharing skills and expertise, and helping to plan for the future evolution of book scanning projects across the Yale community. For information about a scanning project by the Peabody Museum, see the Yale Daily News, April 10, 2010.
ODAI’s sponsorship of the West Campus Digitization Collaborative is part of a larger effort to create a shared digitization center for staff, faculty, and students engaged in the science and art of digital creation.
